Doon-Chang / Gee, How I Miss You - 7" Vinyl

by 4 Jades

$15.00

The 4 Jades are a mysterious soul/funk group from Ohio who released two stunning tracks in 1972 under the label Cin-Town Records. The label was owned by Wilbert Longmire, a renowned rhythm & blues and jazz guitarist who wrote and arranged the songs, and also played keyboards. Longmire was influenced by Curtis Mayfield, James Brown, and Sly Stone, and his musical talent is evident in both tracks.

“Gee, How I Miss You” is a soulful ballad that expresses longing and nostalgia, while “Doon-Chang” is a funky groove that showcases the group’s vocal harmonies and rhythmic skills. Both songs have been featured on various music platforms and have gained a cult following among rare soul collectors and enthusiasts.

This is the second time Fraternity Music Group/Undercover Brother Ent., Inc. has released this double A-sider, it's a real funky, group soul masterpiece. The backstory on the repressing of this 7” record goes like this. It was a sunny evening in the Summer of 2023 when a record collector from Seattle, WA named Waxvillain contacted Victor “The U.B.” Piagneri, President of Fraternity Music Group. Inspired by pioneers of the Rare Soul scene in California, Waxvillain presented the idea to reissue the lost rare soul gem from Cincinnati, Ohio so records collectors new and seasoned, far and wide would have an opportunity to not just listen, but own a limited edition reissue from the original master recordings. Both titles were also previously available on a 10", 33 ⅓ RPM vinyl in Green Transparent and Clear Marbled versions, which are highly sought after by vinyl lovers. This 10” release also included two songs by Longmire himself, “Make You Wanna Holler” and “Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool”, which are equally impressive and enjoyable.

This is a rare opportunity to discover and appreciate the 4 Jades, one of the most elusive and intriguing groups in the history of soul/funk music. Don’t miss this chance to own a piece of musical treasure from Cin-Town Records, one of the most distinctive and respected labels in the 1970s.
