Yum Yum (Eat Em Up) / Set Me Free (U.B. Dub Edit) - 7" Vinyl

by The Beat Box Boys
and Teen Rock

$10.00

Two more never-before-on-7-inch gems courtesy of Fraternity Music Group’s collab with Meno Vision, a short-lived mid-‘80s label that combined the Hi Energy pop mentality of founder Bobby Orlando with the crunchy drum machine beats of early Hip Hop. This improbable combination resulted in a handful of records that are still as catchy and off-the-wall funky as they were when they first came out.
Hip hop DJs at the time were all over The Beat Box Boys’ “Yum Yum (Eat ‘Em Up),” a perfect match with its contemporary cousin from the UK, the Art Of Noise’s “Beat Box”. “Set Me Free” by Teen Rock is a deeper cut, one that only a few DJs were adventurous or clued-in enough to run. For this reissue The Undercover Brother (yes, he was one of those clued-in DJs) has assembled a special edit of the Dub Mix that emphasizes the wild effects and heavy beats that made this one of his secret weapons back in the day.
